- Lead the development and execution of advanced Automation and Research Informatics strategies to enhance lab efficiency and scientific discovery.
- Develop and maintain strategic roadmaps for all relevant scientific data management, inventory management, scientific operation workflow tools, and their integration.
- Develop and maintain R&D policies for system access and usage, particularly regarding data capture and ELN compliance.
- Work closely with discovery teams and data scientists for support and continued improvement of discovery informatics solutions including LIMS, data warehouse, workflow management, and data/system integration.
- Design automated workflow solutions including equipment considerations, space and layout, add-ons and automated accessories, consumables and data management solutions.
- Champion the deep integration between data generation from automation and data capture/analysis from research informatics, facilitating a seamless flow of critical information for scientific advancements.
- Manage the integration and application of automation technologies, including robotics and high-throughput bioassays, to enhance research throughput and quality.
- Ph.D. in Informatics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant scientific field
- Training in computer science and software development is highly desirable
- 10+ years in the biopharmaceutical industry directly supporting discovery and development is a must, with a proven track record in lab automation, screening, and informatics that directly support discovery and clinical development
- Experience in integrating and automating in vitro and NGS assays, with a working knowledge of complex biological models for HTS applications. Experience in analytical and metabolomic workflow is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership experience leading enterprise solutions and a team in a multi-disciplinary R&D setting. Experience with LIMS, scientific data management, compound management, sample inventory, instrument data capture, assay results, and electronic laboratory notebooks is a must-have.
- Deep understanding of automation technologies for both biochemical and cell-based assays, including proficiency with Tecan, Hamilton, Agilent robots and high content screening assays
- Solid programming skills in Python and SQL with familiarity with DoE models and relevant software for assay development; experience with Nextflow and end-user web application development is a plus.
- Experience supporting clinical development team is a plus.
- Experience with cloud technology integration, processes, and security good practices (AWS-focused)
- Familiarity with high performance cloud computing
- Experience with end-user web-application development
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with and build strong working relationships with diverse business partners, including senior executives
- Extremely curious and intellectually capable of developing an understanding of business and scientific contexts
