- Run diagnostic tests on vehicles and equipment.
- Analyze diagnostic test results.
- Understand basic diesel engine mechanics.
- Repair vehicle and equipment engines, fuel systems, suspension, and steering mechanisms, and electrical, and braking systems.
- Check vehicle lighting systems.
- Test drive vehicles to gauge performance.
- Perform preventative maintenance service.
- Utilize maintenance software package to ensure work orders are updated, and service records are tracked.
- Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist.
- Maintain parts inventory.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the shop.
- Organizational skills
- 3+ years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic
- Knowledge of diesel engine components
- Understanding of basic hydraulic systems.
- IT and diagnostic skills.
- Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
- Attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Must possess a valid DL license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent reading and writing skills.
- ASE Diesel Certification is an asset.
- Experience in the transportation industry
- Bi-Lingual (English & Spanish) a plus.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-turnover environments.
- Knowledgeable in DOT, OSHA, and safety compliance.
- Team player capable of building partnerships with the organization s support teams.
