- This position performs manual and clerical duties related to storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies. Must report unusual problems to supervisor. Must keep work areas clean and orderly. May be required to perform other related duties as required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical associate’s degree preferred; 3 – 6 years of work-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Communication Skills Ability to understand verbal and written instructions. Spanish and/or English at a conversational level.
- Mechanical Skills: Manual dexterity and ability to work with hand tools such as air power impact guns, rivet guns, air drills, basic hand tools like pliers, hammers, crimpers, cutters, and ability to identify and work with metric and standard tools as wrench sets and drive sockets, power tools such as electric drills, sanders, etc.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift Certification is required.
- Other Qualifications: Flexibility to work overtime and weekend hours.
- Ability to read blueprints, previous mechanical/electrical assembly experience, experience with using lifts and hoists, ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Have the initiative to identify safety issues, raise their hand and bring these issues to the Lead person or Supervisor.
- Incumbents perform many of the same duties as a Materials Handler Assistant but are distinguished in that incumbent’s exercise decision making and independent judgement due to a broader knowledge of the materials handling operation and provide on the job training and problem resolution to others. Incumbents may be responsible for a higher volume, high dollar amount and/or be assigned responsibility over one or more specified areas. Incumbents are expected to handle high-dollar cost and fragile equipment or supplies and hazardous materials, such as chemicals or gases, when necessary. May be required to lift heavy objects.
- Transport material from receiving areas to storage locations or designated areas and understanding warehouse locations and inventory systems.
- Provide needed parts to assembly cells and monitor stock levels and report low inventory to management.
- Perform cycle counts and enter results in ERP system
- Counts, weighs, or measures incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
- Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
