This individual will support the company in evaluating, planning, and collaborating with other organizations to create the overall information technology (IT) systems and network connectivity infrastructure to maintain and achieve a multi-year DT roadmap to meet the critical needs of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. Additionally, this individual will assess current software development tools and processes with a focus on modernization and quality.SummaryThis strategic role will plan for, and provide top-level oversight of, an evolving portfolio of infrastructure and process related projects from solution development to oversight of budgeting, development, deployment, maintenance, and retirement. This role will also ensure that the individual projects across the enterprise can meet BPMI DT objectives including the ability to synthesize and link information together to create a successful digital thread.This individual will need to collaborate effectively with a diverse Industrial Base delivering and receiving digital data, internal BPMI stakeholders including equipment and support departments, suppliers of infrastructure solutions, other outside organizations sharing best practices, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL), and the NNPP Shipyards. This individual will be part of the team continuously refining the strategy based on DT progress, programing practices and tool advancements, and IT advances which provide additional capability over time.This role is based out of our Pittsburgh office. A hybrid work schedule is a viable option.Roles and Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with peers in other organizations as needed to research and prepare written technical and budgetary recommendations on internal and external headcount as well as the roadmaps of hardware and software products to meet our objectives.
  • Developing and maintaining the overall DT IT systems design (hardware and software) and performance specifications aligning with stakeholders inside and outside of BPMI in doing so. Stakeholders include other digital data creators and consumers, technical personnel, management, and security organizations.
  • Performing top level oversight of projects in the portfolio from design through implementation and support to ensure successful integration and continuous alignment with DT needs.
  • Represent BPMI on DT infrastructure matters with different stakeholder organizations, and NNL who provides significant IT support for the Program and leads the overall NNPP DT program office.
  • Support budgeting and other discussions necessary to implement and maintain the DT IT system designs.
  • Performing assessments on software development processes and implementing updates to support integration of modern practices and DT.
  • Communicating frequently internally as well as with external organizations including suppliers

  • B.S. or M.S. in a relevant engineering or technical area (Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Networking, Information Systems/Technology or Technology Management preferred), or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 9 years of relevant engineering or IT experience that provide a foundational knowledge of engineering development, operations, and/or life-cycle support infrastructure.
  • Ability to travel is required (up to 20%).
  • Requires a security clearance, however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
Preferred Job Requirements
  • A working knowledge of many of the following is preferred: IT networks, cybersecurity, databases, basic engineering development systems such as Electrical or Mechanical CAD and PLM, Software development environments and coding standards, as well as familiarity with more Operations oriented systems such as ERP, MRP, and MES.
  • A strategic orientation and ability to work on future vision while concurrently managing directionally correct tactics
  • Ability to both independently assess situations as well as team with others at all levels of an organization.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
