- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including how-to guides, presentations, system administration guides, installation guides, end user training materials, API documentation, wiki pages and technical reports.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of software engineers, system architects, system administrators, data scientists, data engineers, data analysts, trainers and program managers to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Review and edit documentation created by technical staff.
- Adhere to DoD documentation standards, style guides and templates.
- Manage document version control and configuration.
- Self-motivated to proactively identify areas for documentation improvement and implement changes. To include the design, development, enhancement and rewriting of existing documentation and/or wiki pages to improve the quality of documentation available for our users.
- Assist existing training staff in the development of technical presentations and training sessions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support the public release process for documentation.
- Work collaboratively with graphics designers to create and enhance graphics for documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with documentation tools.
- Proficiency with wiki tools such as Confluence.
- Experience working with highly technical teams of engineers and scientists.
- Experience working in a remote/distributed team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proven ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers and teammates.
- Confident presentation skills for large technical and non-technical groups.
- Demonstrated initiative in improving documentation quality.
- Location: This position is mostly remote, but the individual must reside in an area near a military installation.
- Travel Requirements: This position will require travel of 25% with potential surge to 50% to support end users located at various DoD ranges & labs located across the US (including Alaska and Hawaii).

- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required.
- 5+ years of technical writing experience within the DoD environment.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 15+ years of technical writing experience with 5+ in DoD.
- Experience with DoD Test and Evaluation.
- Experience writing for a software intensive product team.
- Knowledge of Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka).
- Proven experience documenting complex software systems, including big data platforms, cloud-based architecture, and data analytics tools.
- Experience with automated documentation tools.
