- At least 2 to 3 year's current Phlebotomy experience - required
- Average of 30 to 45 sticks per day

- Phlebotomist II / Certified Phlebotomy Tech II (CPT II) performs phlebotomy roles of the IOP accurately
- Certified Phlebotomy Tech handles venipuncture, arterial puncture, and skin punctures confidently, accurately, & efficiently
- Ensure all specimens are collected accurately according to established procedures
- Explains process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection;Reduces patient anxiety, maintains a calm environment for patients before, during and after collection process
- Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue
- Completes requisitions accurately
- Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into computer - High level of attention to detail required to maintain accuracy
- Communicate to confirm handwritten orders, verify tests ordered, obtain billing information, i.E. Diagnosis codes, UPIN information
- Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
- Demonstrates proficiency of proper collection methods and proper processing of all specimens
- Maintains required records and documentation, daily records and logs
- Utilizes time appropriately, capable of maintaining fluctuating patient flow
- Displays courteous and professional behavior to clients, patients, co-workers;communicates in a way that promotes a harmonious and cooperative working environment
- Performs duties in an independent manner
- Protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information
