Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join our Transportation team based in our Buffalo, New York office. We are seeking candidates who wish to establish a career in civil engineering. The successful candidate will collaborate with a diverse team of technical professionals on roadway, transit, and site civil work projects.The successful candidate will join a large established team that provides professional services across New York and New Jersey. This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, and a positive attitude. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel, and office management and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team.This position is expected to begin in Summer 2026.Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:
  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Prepare engineering-related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
  • Assist in the design of transportation engineering projects.
  • Preparing and checking design calculations for roadway and drainage projects.
  • Drawing preparation, review, and checking.
  • Shop drawing review.
  • Preparation of reports and specifications.
  • Assisting in maintaining project documentation.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Related internship experience with an engineering consulting firm or government agency.
  • Basic knowledge of other industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Inroads, and OpenRoads).
