SouthLight is also an approved employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).Job Responsibilities of a Community Inclusion Peer Support Specialist
- Serves as an active member of TCL (Transitional Community Living)
- Assist clients with self-determination and decision-making
- Promote independent living skills through modeling, feedback, and support to individuals with housing needs
- Demonstrates skills needed to live independently such as maintaining clean housing units, lease signing, learning and adherence to rules of community member is residing
- Encourages self-advocacy around tenancy issues
- Aid in the development of functional skills (managing medication routines, budgeting skills, learning how to access health care, independent daily living skills, etc.)
- Assists the Team Lead with behavioral and substance use disorder interventions
- Support individuals through navigation and participation in formal treatment services
- Encourage the development of natural supports where possible
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and be at least 18 years old.
- Minimum of 1 year working with the adult MH/SA population in a community setting
- Active Certification in NC as a Peer Support Specialist
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens training, and NCI
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of county resources and opportunities
- Great “people skills” and an ability to make lasting community connections
- Ability to learn other technological recording methods i.e. EMRs/EHRs
- Ability to work in a team model that changes regularly as needed
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to frequent changes in workflow based on client needs and service structure
