Further details about the organization can be found at: https://corusinternational.orgCorus International is seeking a Human Resource Business Partner to join its Human Resource Department.This position can be based in Washington, DC or Baltimore, Maryland, or be fully remote if located outside the DC, MD, VA areas.Position Summary:The HR Business Partner (HRBP) - US is a hands-on role that provides US-based employees and department heads day-to-day HR advisory and technical support. The HRBP - US is a core position within the Global Human Resources Team and supports the organization's strategies designed to attract, motivate and retain talent and enhance the experience of our employees. The position will oversee the delivery of HR services and activities across the US market, to include performance management, employee relations, compensation, diversity, equity and
inclusion, onboarding/offboarding, culture-building, and rewards and recognition. The HRBP - US is also responsible for managing Corus' benefits programs, including health and wellness and retirement plansResponsibilities:
  • Manage all US benefit programs including health, life, AD&D, disability, workers compensation, retirement plans: 403(b) and 457(b), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), transit benefits, leave benefits, and COBRA; assist employees with enrollments and changes; work closely with payroll to process accurate benefits and retirement deductions; reconcile monthly invoices; serve as the primary liaison with insurance carriers, benefits brokers and vendors; perform plan testing and annual 5500 audits; work with brokers to facilitate quarterly retirement plan committee meetings; manage annual benefits renewal and open enrollment process; maintain updated benefits materials; keep staff informed of any changes/updates to benefits; stay
abreast of benefits trends; and recommend improvements and/or plan design changes to enhance current benefit.
  • Work with Senior Director, Employee Experience to administer Corus' performance management program, including goal setting, mid-year check-ins, 360° feedback, and year-end evaluation; deliver trainings focused on successful performance management principles; and support supervisors and staff throughout the year. Coordinate activities for the performance management process including drafting communications, creating presentation materials, preparing the performance feedback system, and deriving insightful data analytics to guide process improvement and needed trainings.
  • Serve as the administrator for Corus' global employee engagement platform, CultureAmp; ensuring system set up, running reports, and following up on survey responses. Design and conduct employee engagement surveys, new hire surveys and exit surveys and collect data and other forms of feedback to help build and influence Corus' People strategy and action planning. Provide support to global HR team with optimizing use of CultureAmp.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues fairly, consistently, and expeditiously; mediate employee questions and concerns; conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations, when required; assist supervisors with developing performance improvement plans, issuing disciplinary action, and interpreting HR policies.
  • Facilitate the implementation of effective onboarding and offboarding strategies and processes that are consistent and streamlined.
  • Work with Senior Director, Employee Experience to champion diversity, equity and inclusion strategies across the organization, lending support as needed on DEI projects, programs, and strategies; and ensure that the design and delivery of HR projects and programs are done through the lens of DEI.
  • Work with Senior Director, HR Operations to administer Corus' compensation administration program, to include reviewing and classifying new or modified position descriptions; analyzing US compensation to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance; implementing compensation programs/projects such as annual increases, performance incentive awards, and special market adjustments.
  • Work closely with Payroll and IT to ensure that HR-related systems (ADP) are effectively meeting the needs of HR and the organization; provide quality control of benefits data using HRIS, payroll change notices, system audits, etc.; update salary and benefits changes via the HR/payroll system; and use HRIS reporting tools to review, monitor and produce HR data, reports & metrics.
  • Track and compile relevant data and prepare presentations, dashboards, reports, and other documents as directed.
Supervisory:
This role does not have direct reports but may manage junior staff on specific projects.Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of progressively responsible HR experience, or equivalent combination; current HR certification preferred. Experience working in a global environment a plus.
  • Significant knowledge of, and experience working across, multiple HR disciplines, including benefits administration, performance management, employee relations, employee engagement, and federal and state employment laws. Experience in DEI preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills; experience communicating and collaborating with diverse populations of staff and external stakeholders.
  • Experience overseeing and managing numerous projects; solid project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefit programs, including COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, IRS codes, etc.
  • Experience with DC benefit laws and/or managing DC Paid Family Leave required.
  • Ability to apply discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Advanced skills and/or competencies in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Incredibly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and effectively execute.
  • Ability to anticipate and prioritize multiple tasks from a variety of sources and switch direction quickly, while still maintaining task integrity and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, but also collaborate within a team setting.
