We are currently looking for a Manager, Senior Software Engineer in the United States.This role offers the opportunity to lead and contribute to the development of innovative public health software solutions that directly impact communities. You will manage and mentor a team of software engineers while contributing hands-on to the design, development, and maintenance of web-based applications. Working in an Agile environment, you will collaborate with analysts and technical peers to modernize systems, improve functionality, and ensure secure, scalable solutions. The role emphasizes innovation, technical leadership, and continuous improvement, providing an environment that encourages learning and the adoption of emerging technologies. You will play a pivotal role in shaping software development practices while delivering solutions that enhance public health infrastructure.Accountabilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of software engineers, setting development processes and expectations.
  • Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable web-based applications using modern frameworks and technologies.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and analysts to ensure solutions meet technical and business requirements.
  • Develop prototypes and evaluate new technologies to support innovative solutions.
  • Guide technical decisions, share expertise, and align development efforts with organizational goals.
  • Communicate effectively with business leaders, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to ensure solutions are robust and forward-looking.
Requirements
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience developing web-based applications, including proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, SASS/LESS, JSON, and XML.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as VUE, React, or Angular2, and microservice architecture.
  • Knowledge of REST/SOAP web services and modern SDLC tools like Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/TeamCity, OpenShift, and Gradle.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, security standards, and best practices.
  • Experience managing and mentoring technical teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills at both business and technical levels.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working in distributed, remote teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masterโ€™s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in responsive development and accessibility standards (WCAG/508).
  • Prior experience leading technical teams and establishing coding standards.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based servers such as AWS.
