COMPARATIVE COMPLIANCEThe Prince George's County Police Department is currently seeking experienced police officer (EPO) candidates to be considered for the Comparative Compliance EPO Academy. The Police Department is seeking men and women that exhibit characteristics of good character, sound judgment, honesty, reliability and integrity that blend together with a philosophy for community-oriented policing and a strong desire to serve the interests of the citizens of Prince George's County. Candidates approved for hire in this position will attend a Comparative Compliance EPO Academy. The Comparative Compliance EPO Academy is a 23 week course of instruction designed to meet all of the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC) objectives for certification as a police officer in the State of Maryland. The Comparative Compliance EPO Academy will be offered to all NON-MARYLAND CERTIFIED experienced police officers, to include Federal, Local, and Out-of-State jurisdictions with at least one and a half (1.5) years of service with their respective agencies. The Comparative Compliance EPO Academy is a professional learning environment for advanced officers, NOT a basic instructional academy.EPO candidates must be currently certified by a recognized agency and have completed at least one and one half years as a full time Police Officer.Examples of WorkThe typical duties of a police officer, upon whom public safety depends, include: responding to calls; maintaining order in an assigned patrol area; enforcing criminal and traffic laws mandated and authorized by the State and local laws and ordinances; report writing, courtroom presentation of cases; and providing effective and efficient service to the citizens of Prince George's County. - Currently certified as a Police Officer with a minimum of 18 months (1.5 years) experience with current agency
- U.S. Citizen
- High School graduate; (60+ college credit hours preferred)
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Pass a comprehensive background investigation to include review of Internal Affairs File, Oral Interview, Polygraph, Psychological Evaluation, and Medical Evaluation
- Pass all of the qualification factors listed in the Additional Information.
