- Lead and participate in all stages of product development and production with a focus on safe and effective electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic testing and validation.
- Develop, document, and implement detailed test plans and procedures for fuel dispenser components, payment systems, and assemblies.
- Maintain a safety-first approach by identifying and mitigating hazards during testing through appropriate safeguards and control systems.
- Partner with design and reliability engineering teams to define and refine test requirements that confirm product robustness and regulatory compliance.
- Support validation efforts of electrical hardware and firmware/software through functional, environmental, and accelerated life testing.
- Drive continuous improvements by developing lab and test technology roadmaps aligned with organizational and market needs.
- Analyze test data and equipment performance to identify failure modes and product issues; propose and implement corrective actions.
- Lead root cause analyses (RCA) for test failures and field returns, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
- Troubleshoot and resolve test equipment problems to ensure safety, test continuity, and maximize equipment uptime and utilization.
- Utilize a variety of test equipment and automated test systems including in-circuit testers, functional testers, materials analyzers, FCC/EMC test setups, environmental stress screening, and accelerated life test platforms.
- Maintain and update comprehensive test documentation including protocols, reports, and failure analysis records.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance test coverage, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, promoting best practices in test engineering and product quality.
- Manage electrical test data and actively contribute to Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) processes.
- Collaborate with external regulatory and certification bodies such as UL, CUL, ATEX, and CENAM to ensure compliance with relevant test standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant test engineering and laboratory experience. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Solid understanding of electro-mechanical systems, environmental testing, and design validation principles.
- Proven experience with electrical functional testing, in-circuit testing, environmental stress screening, and accelerated life testing.
- Skilled in analyzing test data using quantitative and statistical methods.
- Familiar with electrical design and reliability concepts including Design for Testability (DFT).
- Experienced with test automation, PLC programming, data acquisition hardware/software, and test management systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to conduct thorough root cause analyses on product and test equipment failures.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as UL, IEC, ASTM, and others related to product testing and certification.
- Experience with Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) is a plus.
- Certification such as ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer or equivalent is desirable but not mandatory.
