- People Leadership & Development: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Environmental Compliance Managers, Specialists, and Coordinators. Focus on team development through coaching, training, and performance management. Foster a collaborative and high-performing environment that supports continuous growth and improvement.
- Execution of Environmental Compliance Strategies: Ensure the execution of established environmental compliance strategies, ensuring they are effectively carried out by the team. Ensure regulatory compliance across all environmental aspects, including UST/AST management, spill response, release detection, and other compliance requirements.
- Compliance Oversight & Execution: Provide day-to-day leadership to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory matters and oversee the team's execution of compliance tasks, including spill response, release detection, and regulatory reporting.
- Process Implementation & Continuous Improvement: Oversee the implementation of environmental compliance processes and ensure the team’s adherence to these processes. Identify areas for improvement and work with the team to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Training & Knowledge Transfer: Ensure that all team members, including Environmental Compliance Managers, Specialists, and Coordinators, receive the necessary training to execute their roles effectively.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with internal teams such as Operations, Remediation, and Real Estate to ensure compliance processes are integrated across business units. Serve as the subject matter expert on compliance execution and help facilitate alignment across teams.
- Vendor and External Relationship Management: Oversee vendor relationships to ensure the team is supported with the necessary resources and services to maintain compliance. Ensure that vendors meet regulatory and performance expectations.
- Regulatory Compliance Leadership: Take ownership of regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance reporting. Ensure all compliance activities are executed on time and in alignment with legal requirements, while minimizing risk to the organization.
- Project Management: Oversee the execution of multiple compliance-related projects. Ensure that project timelines, compliance requirements, and deliverables are met. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure project success.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 7 -10 years in a leadership or senior management role focused on people development. Proven track record of managing and developing teams to execute compliance strategies.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, with hands-on experience in regulatory compliance.
- People Leadership & Development: Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor a diverse team. Experience in providing coaching, performance management, and fostering a culture of continuous development and growth.
- Execution of Compliance Strategies: Demonstrated ability to execute and manage environmental compliance strategies across a large geographic region. Proven track record in overseeing and ensuring the effective execution of compliance processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across departments, particularly with Operations, Remediation, and Real Estate, to execute environmental compliance initiatives.
- Vendor Management: Experience managing external vendors and service providers, with a focus on ensuring compliance and performance management.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate regulatory and compliance requirements effectively to internal teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple compliance-related projects simultaneously. Certification in Project Management (PMP) is a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and environmental compliance software. Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools is a plus.
- Travel Requirements: Ability to travel as necessary for site visits, regulatory inspections, and team collaboration.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to evolving regulatory requirements and organizational priorities.
