Summary:The Director of Client Services at Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard is the individual with primary responsibility for day-to-day management of all programmatic activities of the organization. This includes overall responsibility for ensuring effective management of the Veteran Resource Center, Workforce Development Program and Transitional Housing Program. In overseeing the management and development of these programs and their respective staff members, the Director of Client Services ensures that all program activities remain aligned with the organization's mission and remain well-positioned to continue to meet the needs of the local homeless veteran community. Additional responsibilities of the Director of Client Services include serving as a senior liaison between Veterans Place and outside community partners such as the Veterans Administration and the Department of Labor. The Director of Client Services is also responsible for ensuring the day-today operations of the programs meet CARF standards. The Director of Client Services also provides management and oversight for volunteer activities at Veterans Place.Responsibilities:Program Management and Development:
  • Provide leadership in all programmatic activities of the agency and ensure that continuous efforts are made to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Communicate organization goals and operational plans to all levels of the organization and clients.
  • Assist program staff in identifying and implementing program improvements.
  • Ensure that all internal program activities are well-integrated and allow for effective communication and partnership within the corps of Veterans Place program staff.
  • Ensure that best practices in documentation and confidentiality are consistently applied by all Veterans Place program staff.
  • Create and execute plans for continuous development and quality improvement of Veterans Place program staff members. This includes internal training as well as external education opportunities that directly relate to staff effectiveness in meeting Veterans Place's mission.
  • Assists the Executive Director in program planning and design.
  • Works closely with Executive Director to ensure programs are in compliance with CARF accreditation and exceeding all standards.
  • Research, design, and recommends new programs and systems, with a goal of developing an integrated delivery system. Plans for a long term, ongoing integrated system that uses a wide variety of funding sources.
  • Implement the Veterans Place HR policies and procedures as they relate to the organization's program staff.
  • Ensures regulations and guidelines are being followed according to grants, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct audits regularly on individual charts and programs to assure quality and compliance
  • Maintain performance standards. Oversee time and attendance of direct reports and address performance concerns. Train and coach staff and develop performance standards with subordinates to reach, or exceed, standards on a continuous basis. Initiate any corrective steps to modify or correct performance problems.
  • Oversees inspections of the programs from grantors (i.e., VA and DOL)
  • Assist with completion of grant reports.
  • Any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the Executive Director.
Partner Agency Relationships:
  • Work to ensure the long-term health of relationships between Veterans Place and all outside partner agencies.
  • Serve as a senior liaison between Veterans Place and the Veterans Administration homeless services staff, including the VA Grant and Per-Diem Liaison assigned to Veterans Place programs.
  • Serve as the senior liaison between Veterans Place and outside nonprofit and government agencies with which Veterans Place partners for delivery of services to homeless Veterans, including the Department of Labor.
  • Communicate with Grantors and assure reporting and benchmarks are met by individual programs
  • Participate in community-based service provider collaborative groups and work to identify opportunities for new partnerships that have the potential to improve services for Veterans Place clients.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Assist with Coordinating volunteer efforts and opportunities at Veterans Place

  • Substance abuse/mental health experience mandatory.
  • Must have prior management/supervisory experience.
  • Experience working directly with the homeless population strongly preferred.
  • Veteran status preferred.
  • Experience working with Veterans Administration preferred.
