Duties Description Under the supervision of higher-level staff, the incumbent will oversee architectural activities and projects for the Western District (Allegany, Genesee and Niagara Regions); perform the full range of professional architecture activities as assigned by the District Manager; supervise architecture staff and administrators. The incumbent will be required to use their professional license and registration seal. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Develop, implement, and oversees the preparation of plans for historic sites, parks, recreational, and other facilities;
  • Manage projects from inception to construction closeout, with both in-house and consultant resources;
  • Review work activities for quality and conformity to professional standards, NYS code, environmental requirements and standards for accessibility;
  • Perform and/or manage the preparation of contract drawings and specifications;
  • Prepare graphics and presentations to communicate design intent for internal and public presentations;
  • Review, approve, and sign architectural plans, estimates, specifications, contracts, completed work, contract changes and payments. Manage contractor work activities, assuring that work is completed in accordance with plans and contracts;
  • Coordinate work activities with park management to assure that work is completed in accordance with other programs and project deadlines;
  • Coordinate the work of other professional and technical staff assigned to a project; review and approve procedures, guidelines, and specifications and contract documents;
  • Consult with park management and other stakeholders to obtain input, resolve problems, discuss and coordinate related developments, and explain projects and programs;
  • Oversee consultant and contract work; prepares scope of work for and administer contracts, including the review of the technical components;
  • Assure work is performed within budget and on schedule, reviewing and recommending payments, and assuring that documents and reports comply with code and conform with standards; and schedules and completes topographical surveys and soil investigations.

Niagara Falls, New York 14305The posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 24 ($91,298) and the Geographic Pay Differential ($7,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($115,252) and the Geographic Pay Differential ($7,000).Work hours will be 8 AM to 4 PM or 9 AM to 5 PM.OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
  • Must possess and maintain a New York State Professional Architect's License and current registration as a term and condition of employment.
  • Candidates must possess effective communication skills and have the ability to understand written and/or verbal material and instructions.
  • Occasional daytime, weekend, holiday and evening work may be required.
  • Candidates must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver's license as a term and condition of employment.
  • Candidate is expected to have proficiency in Autocad, Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook. Proficiency in 3d modeling software, graphic software (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and rendering capabilities are a plus.
  • Knowledge of current New York State Building Codes a plus.
  • Work schedule may vary depending on agency needs and project completion dates.
