The Director of Technical Expertise (Validation & Hygiene) serves as the enterprise authority on quality-focused technical standards, including global hygiene programs, equipment validation, and manufacturing environment controls. This role drives standardization ensures technical readiness for new product industrialization and embeds quality into equipment and facility design. A key champion of Voyant's Clean Beauty and regulatory commitments, this leader provides strategic oversight, coaching, and support across the manufacturing network to uphold excellence in technical execution.What you will do
  • Develop and maintain a global hygiene strategy, including environmental controls, sanitation standards, and monitoring protocols. Standardize hygiene practices across sites, aligning with cGMP, Clean Beauty principles, and customer expectations. Lead hygiene audits and support site remediation, capability building, and verification practices.
  • Define and oversee the enterprise validation program for equipment, cleaning, and manufacturing processes. Lead quality governance for first-pass industrialization and technical transfer of new products to manufacturing. Ensure all validation practices meet regulatory expectations and internal standards (FDA, Health Canada, ISO).
  • Equipment Standards & Engineering Partnerships: Collaborate with Engineering, OEMs, and suppliers to define equipment quality requirements and commissioning protocols. Establish standardized validation and qualification criteria across sites. Provide input on capital projects to ensure quality is embedded in design and implementation.
  • Partner with Quality Systems team in auditing technical elements including Purified Water Systems, Compressed Air Systems, Environmental Monitoring and Controls, and Equipment Calibration and Maintenance Programs.
  • Champion and operationalize Voyant’s Clean Beauty Quality Standard for facilities, people, and processes. Ensure alignment of technical infrastructure and practices to brand promises and clean label commitments.
  • Track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including: Validation schedule adherence and success rate, Hygiene audit scores and closure effectiveness, Implementation rate of global technical standards, % of successful first-pass product industrializations and Clean Beauty compliance metrics by facility.
  • Lead strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects as assigned by executive leadership
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Microbiology, Life Sciences, or related field; advanced degree. (Preferred)
Experience Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in technical quality, validation, or manufacturing science within regulated industries (OTC, cosmetics, pharma, personal care). (Required)
  • proven experience leading validation programs (equipment, cleaning, process). (Required)
  • understanding of GMP facility design, hygiene controls, and utility system qualification. (Required)
  • demonstrated collaboration with cross-functional technical teams (Engineering, R&D, Operations, OEM, Customers). (Required)
  • in a contract manufacturing or multi-site environment. (Preferred)
  • knowledge of Clean Beauty standards and environmental certification frameworks. (Preferred)
  • hands-on experience auditing utility systems and cleanroom/HVAC infrastructure. (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to lead enterprise programs for equipment, cleaning, and process validation. (High proficiency)
  • Knowledge of global hygiene strategies, sanitation, and environmental monitoring. (High proficiency)
  • Understanding of GMP facility design, purified water, compressed air, and HVAC systems. (High proficiency)

  • Excellent ability to present technical requirements and findings across organizational levels. (High proficiency)
