
Phlebotomist I

- Full-time
- Perform blood draws and properly label specimens.
- Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
- Decontaminate equipment and update patient information accurately.
- Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
- Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections to patients.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight or butterfly needles.
- Fully comprehend physicians' orders and match requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
- Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport, ensuring they are stored at the required temperature.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department training sessions.
- Answer phone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, if required.
- Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in customer service.
- Skill in specimen processing and data entry.
