A Facilities Manager's responsibilities include managing the department's projects with significant scope. These projects are typically multi-disciplinary and complex in nature. This role is responsible for managing and monitoring the expansion of data center environments, and inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operating results. A successful candidate will oversee the company's facility operations and manage janitorial duties, all while remaining in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Managing and monitoring the expansion of data center environments.
Defining the resources needed within the department and the Company to ensure the successful and timely completion of projects.
Supervision of the staff within the department to ensure that the duties they are undertaking are carried out in a timely manner and projects are progressing as expected.
Manages personnel details to include salaries, positioning, hiring, terminating, performance reviews, mentoring, and development.
Determining when outside firms are needed (i.e. industrial design, electrical, mechanical, and specialized services) and making recommendations to senior management.
High-level understanding of the production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other relevant information about the process of the facility; Using that knowledge to determine ways that processes can be refined to improve efficiency.
Performing construction activities as requested by the Company or delegating to the appropriate staff.
Overseeing the carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs.
Ensuring that work within the department is being performed according to standard procedures, the building's operational schedule, established efficiency standards, and safety requirements.
Planning, coordinating, budgeting, and implementing resources to complete projects for the department and the Company.
Providing information, input, and mentorship towards budget.
Overseeing the construction process of outside vendors.
Researching production/processing equipment or fixtures for purchase and gathering data relating to their ability to meet organizational needs.
Developing and enacting quality control procedures to resolve particular production problems or to minimize overall costs.
Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus a minimum of four years experience working with electrical and mechanical systems in a data center environment.
Valid driver's license required.
Ability to read and understand complex electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.

Ability to effectively present information.
Requires knowledge of financial terms, principles, and the understanding of operating budgets. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
