- Perform periodic inspections and testing of fire alarm systems to verify functionality, identify issues, and ensure compliance with NFPA standards and local codes.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on fire alarm systems, including replacing components, calibrating devices, and resolving system malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot false alarms, ground faults, troubles, and other system anomalies, providing efficient diagnostics and solutions to minimize disruptions.
- Install fire alarm devices, including wiring termination, programming, and integration with existing infrastructure.
- Provide detailed feedback on system deficiencies, necessary repairs, and recommendations to clients, ensuring clear communication and documentation.
- Present a neat, professional appearance and demeanor at all times, fostering positive client relationships and upholding our reputation for excellence.
- Maintain a high level of service and quality, aligning with our company's commitment to superior performance and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in on-call rotations and occasional travel to client sites, with flexibility for after-hours or emergency responses.
- Utilize an online scheduling calendar to receive and understand assigned tasks, customer locations, and maintain company documents such as timesheets and safety audits.
- Submit required paperwork, reports, and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and company vehicle (if provided) in good working order, conducting regular checks and reporting any issues.
- Study and learn NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems; stay current with code requirements, industry changes, and pursue NICET certifications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, supporting team efforts and contributing to overall project success.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in fire protection technology, electronics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in fire alarm system installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, fire alarm systems, wiring, programming, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and software for system configuration and testing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or in a team under minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to non-experts.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 25%) and participate in on-call rotations.
- Fluency in English (required).
- NICET Level I or II certification in Fire Alarm Systems (or willingness to obtain within the first year).
- Experience with integrated security systems, including access control or video surveillance.
- Familiarity with building codes, OSHA safety regulations, and industry software for scheduling and reporting.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, dust).
- Comfortable standing, bending, kneeling, and using hand tools for extended periods.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
