- Test System Development:
- Design and construct custom test systems, fixtures, and calibration processes.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to understand product functionalities and testing needs.
- Create automated and manual test procedures, data collection methods, and generate relevant documentation.
- Production & Support:
- Ensure the safety and operational suitability of test equipment in production and supplier settings.
- Train production personnel and contract suppliers on equipment usage and troubleshooting techniques.
- Provide hands-on or remote support for troubleshooting Device Under Test (DUT) failures.
- Maintenance & Calibration:
- Maintain calibration records and statuses for all test instrumentation.
- Ensure timely maintenance or replacement of components as per schedules.
- Manage inventory levels for commonly used test setup materials and parts.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Modify equipment and processes to enhance test coverage or accommodate product changes.
- Identify opportunities for product design and production flow enhancements.
- Ensure adherence to internal documentation and compliance standards.
- Support tool and material purchasing decisions with management approval.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering preferred.
- In lieu of a degree, 7+ years of relevant experience and formal technical training will be considered.
- 3+ years of experience designing and building electronic circuits, test harnesses, and custom test systems.
- Experience in developing and executing test methods and procedures.
- Proficient with analog and digital electronic test instruments.
- Skilled in interpreting and creating technical documentation, including schematics and test instructions.
- Proficient with hand tools, soldering, and electromechanical assembly techniques.
- Knowledge of switching power supplies and high-voltage systems (>10kV).
- Experience with Basic Stamp, PIC microcontrollers, or LabVIEW/Visual Basic programming.
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies.
- Experience in the electrical power generation or distribution industry.
- Strong foundation in analog and digital electronics principles and mathematics.
- Understanding of programming logic and structure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to read, interpret, and create technical documents across various formats.
