Applies medical nursing knowledge attained through hands-on experience or formal education to assist veterinarians in a clinical setting, providing support for various animal health care needs. Prepares treatment room for examination of animals and holds or restrains animals during the assessment, treatment, or injection. Administers injections, performs venipunctures, applies wound dressings, cleans teeth, and takes vital signs of animal, under minimal supervision. Patient preparation, medications, and equipment for surgery and hand instruments and materials to the veterinarian during surgical procedures. Routinely performs laboratory tests. May assist veterinarians with emergent or specialized patient care. State-recognized veterinary technician credential (CVT, LVT, or RVT) with certification in good standing required. Open availability, overnight, and weekends are required.
