ResponsibilitiesAbout the Eliza Shirley House & Red Shield Family Residence: The Salvation Army’s ESH and RSFR are a safe and welcoming emergency housing programs offering loving, respectful, compassionate, and non-judgmental services to empower residents to strive towards self-sufficiency. All family configurations, including families with teenaged children, and single men with children are accepted.Description of Position:The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for the efficient operation of the kitchen and direct supervision of the staff. The Kitchen Supervisor must have 5 years supervisory experience and compassion for those we serve who are experiencing homelessness. The Kitchen Supervisor must be willing to uphold safety and cleanliness of the kitchen and enjoy working closely with co-workers and residents residing in shelter. The Kitchen Supervisor must be able to plan weekly meal menus, complete ordering/pick-up of food and supplies for kitchen and understand how a kitchen needs to operate to meet all of these needs.The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the candidate will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post.QualificationsRequirements:
  • Must have a food safety certification recognized by the National Restaurant Association upon hire.
  • Must have H.S. diploma / GED and Five years supervisory.
  • Must have valid driving license and good driving record to operate Salvation Army vehicles.
  • Must be able to safety use knives, mechanical slicer, and other basic kitchen utensils and appliances.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, PA Mandated Reporter Training, and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must understand and have an appreciation for the Mission of the Salvation Army.
