Asheville Veterinary Associates has been a cornerstone of compassionate veterinary care in the Asheville community since 1972. As Medical Director, you will lead our talented team while fostering a supportive environment that encourages professional growth, learning, and excellence in patient care.Medical Director Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic medical leadership and oversight for all veterinary operations.
  • Establish and maintain medical protocols and quality care standards
  • Mentor and develop associate veterinarians and support staff
  • Monitor doctor performance and production
  • Oversee surgical and medical cases, ensuring positive outcomes and excellent client communication
  • Drive revenue growth
  • Participate in recruiting and interviewing process for doctors and key staff members
  • Collaborate with practice management on business initiatives and hospital growth
  • Support inventory management and cost control measures
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and the community

Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) an accredited university
  • Current North Carolina veterinary license in good standing
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience
  • Previous leadership or management experience required
  • Strong surgical and medical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Demonstrated team leadership and development capabilities
  • Interest in or experience with integrative medicine approaches
  • Business acumen and financial management skills
