
Procurement Manager (Independence Excavating)

- Organize and supervise purchasing functions, primarily for job-related material purchases
- Develop, evaluate and execute purchasing strategies, instructions, policies and procedures
- Negotiate vendor contracts with optimal pricing and terms
- Maintain and develop good vendor relationship
- Work collaboratively with Executive Managers and the Project Management team to coordinate supplier selection, credit and terms, negotiate contract terms, track supplier performance standards, and conduct ongoing evaluation
- Assist in the creation and evaluation of RFQs
- Assist in the review of vendor insurance documentation
- Understand the implementation of Diverse Business Enterprise and EEO requirements for projects during agreement negotiations
- Calculate the cost of orders, assign invoices to the appropriate accounts, and monitor in-house inventory.
- Conduct research via the Internet, catalogues, trade publications, and trade shows to identify potential suppliers.
- Interview prospective suppliers either face-to-face or over the phone to determine prices, discounts, terms, etc.
- Create spreadsheets with vendor & product or service comparisons of prospective suppliers to support management decisions
- Monitor subcontractor performance, calculate the cost of orders, ensure invoices are charged to the appropriate accounts and jobs
- Prepare procurement execution plans and oversee the full array of materials management and procurement functions of purchasing, expediting, shipping, and logistics.
- Develop plans for the effective organization and temporary storage of project materials and general inventories at various company and/or job site locations.
- Monitor and support returns, damage replacements, and warranty claims.
- Prepare and update the vendor list and have it approved it with Senior Project Managers
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with large capital construction projects with regard to purchasing or material control, must have experience with establishing and/or implementing policies and procedures to control business processes
- Candidate must have a strong understanding of construction materials, equipment, subcontractor services and construction industry standards, including familiarity with construction documents (plans, specifications, submittals) and how they relate to procurement timelines.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and familiarity with enterprise systems required
- Experience with construction management software such as HCSS HeavyBid, Viewpoint, Procore, Textura, GCPay preferred
