- Oversees clinical documentation improvement initiatives across Orlando Health.
- Develops and implements system-wide CDI strategies by adapting best practices and monitoring performance and trends to advance improvements.
- Interacts and works collaboratively with treating physicians, nurses, physician advisors, and coders to ensure complete and compliant treating physician documentation to support MS-DRG along with APR-DRG and Severity of Illness (SOI) and Risk of Mortality (ROM).
- Develops and optimizes Physician Advisor program and works to establish physician scorecards on documentation performance and opportunities.
- Functions as a subject matter expert for the Clinical Documentation Improvement team and for leaders across the enterprise.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid rules and regulations regarding CDI, POA, basic coding, as well as current trends and developments in the area of Clinical Documentation Improvement.
- Ensures the standardization of the program across the enterprise to improve quality indicators and proper reimbursement through the complete and accurate capture of clinical documentation.
- Develops goals and objectives that are in line with OH strategic vision and supportive of a successful revenue cycle.
- Ensures effective communication with Revenue Management leadership, Site Administration and Finance Department on process changes and strategic planning.
- Facilitates strong working relationships between HIM, Coding and hospital departments to promote effective clinical documentation through coordination of efforts.
- Develops annual expense and capital budgets for CDI and ensures that departments operate within allocated expense structure.
- Maintains professional growth and development in areas of expertise. Serves to develop and mentor individuals through a succession plan.
- Establishes and administers implementation of policies and procedures for departmental operations.
- Develops and manages implementations of long and short-term goals and business plans in accordance with corporate strategies.
- Monitors and evaluates performance of management team.
- Master’s degree required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- A minimum of five (5) years Clinical Documentation Improvement experience.
- A minimum of four (4) years executive level experience leading a multi-system team.
