Job Title: Consumer Loan Advisor Sr.Position Location: Raleigh, NC. Hybrid Position, must live locally.Job Summary:The Consumer Loan Advisor Sr. meets sales goals with members and potential members who apply for credit via online, phone, mobile and branch network channels, serving as the primary contact to facilitate their loan application experience. The role recommends appropriate consumer lending products and Credit Union services, understands their credit profile and membership performance, and answers any questions they may present. The Advisor also works with underwriters, branch personnel, and other departments in support of the member's loan application experience.This position is differentiated from the Consumer Loan Advisor by including home equity loans, work of greater complexity, and responsibility for training of Consumer Loan Advisors.As a key contributor to the Coastal team, your responsibilities will be:
  • (60%) For home equities: collecting upfront fee, collecting all required credit documents, order and review appropriate valuation, property report, title insurance, any additional underwriting requirements and arranging closing with member and/or attorney. Managing workflows and pipeline production to enable excellent service levels, responsiveness, and accessibility for direct members and potential members.
  • (20%) Analyzing financial and credit information, explaining loan options, quoting current interest rates and terms, recommending financial planning services, increasing loan approvals, and making referrals to business partners when appropriate. Communicating approvals, counter offers, and adverse decisions to members while maintaining rapport and negotiating decision-change requests as warranted.
  • (10%) Uncovering and addressing member needs by clearly communicating appropriate recommendations, utilizing a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of Credit Union key objectives, product, and service solutions. Maximizing opportunities to cross sell loan products to meet origination goals and year-over-year growth goals for home equity, vehicle loans, personal loans and credit cards.
  • (10%) Serving as a subject matter expert in the areas of consumer credit: vehicle loans, personal loans, credit cards, and home equity for all internal inquiries; Working in tandem with credit underwriter, branch personnel and members to structure the best loan option to fit needs to meet corporate sales and service goals.

  • Five years of financial services experience
  • Five years of consumer lending experience including processing vehicle, credit card, and personal loans
  • Experience in a role requiring meeting and/or maintaining individual turn-time goals, managing workflows, and handling production pipelines
  • Experience reading and interpreting Credit Bureau information
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED; related bachelor's degree preferred
