PurposeThis position supervises and participates in the maintenance, landscaping, and irrigation installation, as well as tree pruning and property repair.CDL ENHANCEMENT: ADDITIONAL $10,000.00Essential Job Functions
  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
  • Coordinates, reviews work, and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
  • Procures necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinates work with contractors and other utility providers.
  • Ensures maintenance tasks and procedures comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Performs job-site inspections to investigate damage and conclude the repair assignment, including the mitigation of overflows.
  • Procures supplies and materials; maintains inventory of repair parts.
  • Coordinates emergency repairs.
  • Coordinates the use of large equipment.
  • Investigate complaints and accidents.
  • Processes and files payroll for assigned personnel.
  • May act as contract administrator, when assigned, to ensure work performed by contractors is within specifications.
  • Meets with citizens to give recommendations, discuss plans, and resolve complaints.
  • Participates in site inspections.
  • Supervises the installation of all in-house projects
  • Supervises the installation and maintenance of traffic signs, pavement markings, and traffic control for construction and maintenance work.
  • Plans and completes special projects to upgrade or improve work processes or infrastructure maintenance.
  • Ensures that mandated employee drug testing is performed.
  • Completes and submits weekly timesheets; fills out leave forms, compensation, return-to-duty, overtime, and other related documents.
  • Trains personnel in tools and techniques.
  • Maintains professional certifications and attends training.
  • Participates in establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; participates in departmental planning activities.
  • Assists in developing program improvements; investigates citizens' complaints and issues, and works to resolve.
  • Complete accident and injury forms.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent, with four (4) years of experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Must possess and maintain a valid state commercial driver's license (Class A) with an acceptable driving history (dependent upon assigned department).Preferred Experience:
  • 2 or more years of Motor Grader experience
  • 4 or more years of Dump Truck and Loader experience
  • previous material construction experience
Dependent upon department assigned, requires the following certification/license(s) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment:
  • Georgia Water Operator Class I
  • Georgia Water Operator Class II
  • Georgia Wastewater Operator Class III
  • Georgia Wastewater Collector
  • Georgia Commercial Pesticide License
  • Georgia Deputy Marshal
  • NRPA Certified Playground Safety Inspector
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.Additional Information
