Job OverviewUnder direction of the Facility Supervisor, the General Maintenance Worker (Insulator) will provide for the daily maintenance operations and activities for all assigned facilities. The incumbent receives and evaluates work orders and requests, investigates requests or problems where appropriate, and completes the necessary repairs.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties & Job Functions:
- The worker will maintain, repair, and install all insulating material to exposed surfaces of structures such as: air ducts, hot and cold pipes, storage tanks, cold storage rooms, etc.
- Work involves planning and layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal and written instructions.
- Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
- Plan, organize work, and meet all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.
- Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
- Able to inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.
- Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
- Help perform periodic stock inventories and prepare material requisitions for replacement items as required.
- May occasionally be required to operate Government or company-owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
- Coordinate with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
- Supports other trade groups and department staff as needed or directed.
- Adheres to the established CFSI safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
- Will be required to perform various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or equivalent GED.
- Four (4) or more years of experience in the maintenance and insulation field.
- Must have general mechanical, electrical, plumbing and carpentry knowledge/ability.
- Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
