About the PositionThe Information Desk Assistant is the first point of contact for Capitol visitors after they have passed through security. The Information Desk Assistant welcomes visitors, provides information and directions, signs in guests for tours, provides administrative support for visitor services staff, and leads tours as needed. This is a nonpartisan position. Primary responsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of the Information Desk Assistant include:
- confirming group visits;
- assembling educational materials for visitors;
- providing phone support pertaining to reservation scheduling and general Capitol information;
- maintaining Visitor Services stations;
- Creating and assembling weekly communications for volunteers and staff;
- assisting with the bi-monthly Capitol Post
- assisting with inventory and ordering of visitor brochures, maps, magazines, and supplies;
- providing general Capitol and tour information to visitors;
- being familiar with tour logistics and daily operations;
- providing Capitol, Legislative, Mr. Brown's Attic, and Dome tours as needed; and
- other duties as assigned.
