- Manage and oversee the structural construction phase of data center projects, ensuring that all structural elements (foundations, steel frameworks, slabs, etc.) are completed as per the project specifications, quality standards, and schedule.
- Lead the coordination of structural design, engineering, and procurement with the design team, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure timely delivery and issue resolution.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce project plans, schedules, and budgets specific to the structural scope of work.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all structural-related matters, liaising with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure alignment and resolve issues.
- Prepare and manage detailed structural project schedules, including long-lead procurement items, construction milestones, and coordination with other trades.
- Monitor structural activities to ensure alignment with the overall project timeline and coordinate resources to address any potential delays.
- Manage the project budget, track costs, and ensure that structural work is delivered within budget, addressing any discrepancies proactively.
- Review and process contractor/subcontractor invoices and ensure that work completed aligns with the budget and schedule.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality control reviews to ensure that structural work adheres to the design, code requirements, and best practices.
- Enforce adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards, and local building codes for all structural work.
- Ensure that structural work is aligned with the project's quality control program, performing detailed inspections and providing timely feedback to the construction team.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks related to structural scope, including safety, design issues, material delays, or subcontractor performance.
- Oversee the change order process, ensuring that any modifications to the structural scope are documented, approved, and integrated into the schedule and budget.
- Proactively manage and resolve conflicts or issues related to structural design, site conditions, or contractor performance.
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, superintendents, and subcontractors working on the structural scope, ensuring clear communication, collaboration, and alignment of goals.
- Coordinate with the project's design team to address technical issues, maintain the project's constructability, and meet client specifications.
- Provide leadership and guidance to subcontractors to ensure the proper installation of structural elements per design requirements and specifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in construction project management with a focus on structural construction.
- Proven experience managing structural construction projects in data centers, commercial buildings, industrial facilities or similar mission-critical projects.
- Strong knowledge of structural design, engineering principles, and construction practices (foundations, steel, concrete, etc.).
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project for schedule and cost tracking.
- In-depth understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and structural codes (e.g., AISC, ACI, IBC).
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar project management certification.
- Experience with Uptime Institute Tier standards and mission-critical facility design.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
- Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and its application in structural construction.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and communicate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- High-level commitment to safety, quality, and project excellence.
