
Senior Resident Engineer

- Interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
- Provide technical expertise to the client to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
- Review, analyze, and resolves issues.
- Perform complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.
- Prepare complete engineering plans or reports.
- Develop engineering papers and presentations.
- Responsible to act as an owner representative, contractor point of contact for all correspondence including submittals, RFIs, contract modifications, contractor notifications, claims, and project directives.
- Ensure overall quality in the completed projects.
- Develop and implement a project work plan that sets the protocols of the team to ensure the goals of the project are met.
- Coordinate project submittals, cost control, scheduling, reporting, and document control activities.
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.
- Develop, documents, and implements contract modifications.
- Develop and track project activities relating to cost, specifications, changes, and schedule.
- Ensure accurate client billing and monitor outstanding accounts receivable.
- Assist in ensuring that external client focus is top priority of the region and those systems, processes, and activities that focus on the client at all levels of the region are implemented.
- Provide technical leadership in the pursuit process, including proposal preparation, estimating project costs, contract negotiations, project quality, and project profitability.
- Proactively interacts with the contractor.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management from an accredited four-year university; P.E. license; appropriate continuing education; detailed engineering knowledge of staging, electrical construction, utility construction, roadway construction, and bridge construction; and 10+ years of construction management or related experience.
- Must have experience working with Utah Department of Transportation.
- Extensive use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power-Point, scheduling software, and construction management databases/tracking software is required for this role.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification.
- Ability to obtain certifications for material sampling/testing for aggregates, concrete, asphalt, grading, etc. (ACI, NICET, or state certifications)
- Ability to obtain certifications for inspection of roadways, bridges, coatings, etc. (NICET or state certifications)
- Valid driver’s license.
