We strive to create high-performing, strong teams in each of our branches and are looking for passionate and enthusiastic staff who will help us to strengthen our impact, empower our community and deliver incredible programming!POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Vice President (VP) of Wellbeing provides strategic leadership and visionary oversight of the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles' healthy living portfolio, which includes aquatics, fitness and wellness, group exercise, small group training, and other center-based programs. This leader will drive innovation, improve health equity outcomes, and enhance program quality and engagement across branches and communities.This role integrates applied AI, digital innovation, and strategic partnerships (e.g., fitness equipment leasing) to create personalized and scalable member experience, while supporting program excellence across all wellbeing domains. The VP ensures programs are mission-aligned, culturally responsive, and financially sustainable.Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, public health, nonprofit management, or a related field required; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in healthy living, youth development, wellness, or recreation services.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multimillion-dollar programs and large, distributed teams.
  • Experience with technology integration, AI applications in wellness, and/or digital fitness platforms.
  • Strong understanding of trends in health equity, community wellness, and member engagement.
  • CPR, lifeguard, and YMCA/ACE certifications preferred; willingness to obtain YMCA-specific credentials as needed.

Core ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Innovation
  • Lead and continuously evolve the vision and strategy for all wellbeing-related programs across all Centers and 3 camps, ensuring alignment with YMCA's mission and community needs.
  • Champion digital health innovation, leveraging AI-driven wellness platforms, virtual fitness, wearable technology, and data analytics to personalize member journeys and scale access.
  • Integrate leasing of fitness equipment into a long-term strategy to ensure equitable access to high-quality equipment across Centers, while managing lifecycle costs.
  • Drive development and integration of center-based program strategies that support health, recreation, and mental well-being.
Program Oversight
  • Provide executive-level leadership for group exercise, personal training, family wellness, and other programs.
  • Set and monitor KPIs and outcomes across all wellbeing departments, using data to drive performance, member retention, and health equity impact.
  • Ensure all programming meets safety, compliance, licensing, and quality assurance standards across facilities and departments.
Fiscal & Operational Management
  • Develop and oversee multimillion-dollar annual budgets across all wellbeing units; monitor performance and ensure revenue and expense targets are met.
  • Identify and execute strategies for equipment leasing, vendor negotiations, and capital investments related to healthy living and wellness programs.
Talent & Culture Development
  • Lead and develop a diverse team of executive directors, program directors, wellness leaders, and seasonal staff across all programmatic areas.
  • Ensure comprehensive training and career pathways for staff, incorporating YMCA of the USA certifications and external professional development.
  • Promote a culture of member-centered service, equity, innovation, and performance accountability.
Community & Member Engagement
  • Ensure wellbeing programs are welcoming, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of LA's diverse communities, including marginalized populations.
  • Expand opportunities for community partnerships with schools, health systems, government entities, and corporate partners to increase reach and impact.
  • Guide member retention strategies that foster strong relationships, social connection, and healthy outcomes.
