- Responsible for testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting electrical equipment, particularly protective relays, RTUs, breakers, transformers, etc.
- Play an essential role in ensuring electrical power systems are correctly set up, tested, and safely energized.
- Review project electrical drawings and relay settings to ensure readiness for commissioning activities.
- Proactively address issues related to insufficient equipment and site materials to ensure smooth project execution.
- Perform visual inspections and equipment checkouts to confirm equipment is properly installed and ready for testing.
- Execute pre-energization safety checks, including testing of electrical protective devices.
- Conduct functional testing of relays, RTUs, and other protection equipment to verify proper operation.
- Travel to project sites nationwide, with some trips lasting several weeks, to manage commissioning activities and ensure projects meet operational standards.
- Maintain a safety-first mindset at all times, ensuring that work is paused or adjusted as necessary to protect personnel and property.
- Extensive travel is required, with some trips lasting several weeks. Travel schedules are planned in advance, with periods of high travel demand expected
- Minimum of a 2-year Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in testing and commissioning electrical power systems and controls. Previous experience working in HV substations preferred.
- This position will require both technical expertise and the ability to work efficiently in both office and field environments
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical single-line diagrams, three-line drawings, schematics/wiring diagrams, network diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Hands-on experience testing and commissioning protection equipment and devices (e.g., protective relays, RTUs, breakers, transformers).
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical equipment and controls during and post-energization.
- Knowledge of electrical hazards (shock, arc flash) and a strong commitment to adhering to industry-standard safety practices.
