- Reviews and manages the adjusting of workers compensation, liability, auto and property claims including investigation, developing and managing case plans and settlements within established authority
- Participates in claim reviews and audits.
- Works with third party administrators to ensure claims are processed within established guidelines and within the law.
- Prepares and distributes claim reports and metrics from the Savers risk management information system (RMIS).
- Assists with training and support to team members on claim procedures and other safety-related strategies to reduce the frequency and cost of claims.
- Support the claim cost allocation systems
- Support the insurance renewal underwriting process.
- Assists in managing the certificate of insurance program.
- Perform administrative support functions as needed
- Assist in reducing our TCOR (Total Cost of Risk) by pursuing cost recoveries/subrogation for all lines of coverage
- General understanding of the financial impact of claims on insurance premiums and cash flow
- Back-up for the Enterprise Risk Specialist position
- Working knowledge of insurance claims handling procedures
- Working knowledge of federal, state and provincial laws and statutes that affect claims handling.
- Familiar with the evidence collection process
- Working knowledge of company policies and procedures
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook
- Demonstrated planning and organization skills
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Loss Control, Safety & Health, Business, Human Resources or related field; or a combination of education and experience that yields the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- 2+ years' experience in investigation and data collection and claim processes
- Experience in utilizing a RMIS system
- Prefer: 2+ years' experience with multi-state or multi-province company
- Prefer: Certification as an Associate in Claims handling (AIC) or other insurance designation
