Job SummaryThe Medical Assistant participates in the planning, delivery and evaluation of quality patient care within the guidelines and policies of the department and under the direct supervision of the medical staff. Responsible for meeting the established standards of practice and patient care, supplies and equipment, and for coordinating team work with all members of the health care team. This position provides age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.CompensationWe are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. The hourly wage range for this position is $20.87-$29.46. This range reflects the base salary for this position.Key AccountabilitiesProvides direct, individualized nursing care within the CMA’s scope of practice under the direct supervision of the physicians and nursing staff.Shares responsibility for the implementation of nursing care based on physician order and clinic policy.Participates in care of non-urgent, urgent, and emergent patients per protocols.Prepares, administers and records medications as directed by a physician.Draws blood and prepare laboratory specimens.Prepares patient for x-rays.Performs electrocardiograms, holter monitors and CGMS.Performs urinalysis, glucose testing and drug test collection in accordance with hospital lab policies.Communicates pertinent data to physicians regarding the patient following the examination to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care.Ensures that equipment and supplies are available for patient care.Develop and maintain competency on clinic computer systems.Application/removal of casts, braces and splints.Perform minor procedures such as post-operative wound checks, fixator adjustment, I&D’s, assist physician with pin/screw removal.Train patients in proper cast care and brace application.Answer any questions that are within the scope of the cast tech’s knowledge. If unable to satisfy patients’ questions ensure that a Physician Assistant is informed and subsequently contact the patient.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsMust be over 18 years of ageCurrent American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification (or obtained within six months of hire, company paid)Medical Assistant: CMA or RMA preferred.
