Title: Neurodegeneration Research Program Manager
Job Class: Exempt/Salaried; $6,667-7,500/month DOE

We are seeking a Research Program Manager for Dr. James Leverenz in the Mental Health Service line.Summary:The incumbent will oversee day-to-day operations for Dr. Leverenz’s neurodegenerative diseases research program at the Seattle VA. They will manage clinical research operations for several studies, ensuring compliance with federal and local research standards. This individual will participate in grant applications and be responsible for IRB regulatory submission necessary to initiate and maintain research protocols. This individual will manage a multi-site consortium serving as the point of contact for all sites and coordinate subcontracts.Responsibilities:
  • Project and operations management ensuring that staff are adhering to milestones and deadlines
  • Manage and complete IRB and other administrative study forms
  • Assist PI with grant submissions and budgets
  • Serve as lead research coordinator on a multi-site research study responsible for overseeing and supporting the execution of the study across all sites
  • Assist in administering sub-contracts to study sites and assist in monitoring quarterly deliverables
  • Organize and guide meetings of participating research teams for the purpose of reporting progress of the study
  • Provides support and leadership within the research team
  • Delegates tasks on projects to staff best positioned to complete them
  • Manages emergent unforeseen situations and makes effective fast decisions
  • Recruitment, coordinating interviews, and hiring of local research personnel
  • Attend VA HR meetings to inform PIs of upcoming process changes and to facilitate hiring, conversions, and IPA implementation
  • Ordering of all clinical supplies, equipment, and services
  • Payment of all invoices
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of managerial research experience, or,
  • Master’s degree plus 3 years of managerial research experience
Knowledge and Experience:
  • Fundamental understanding of IRB regulatory activities, budget management, and academic research operations.
  • Experience managing multi-site clinical research.
  • An understanding of aging and memory disorders.
  • Research operations management experience within the VA system.
