- CPR/BLS card is not required at time of hire. To be obtained within 4 weeks of hire date (via MultiCare). However, successful candidates must obtain CPR/BLS certification within four weeks of their hire/start date.
- The enrollment in an MA program is not required at time of application, as that is part of MultiCare.
- This is a paid training program. You will be compensated as a full-time employee for the duration of the program.
- Program participants will have a benefit-eligible position with the appropriate waiting period.
- The program is 20-week continuous program with no extended breaks or allowance for Paid Time Off (PTO).
- The program follows a Monday–Friday schedule and offers a dynamic blend of classroom instruction, hands-on skills practice, and clinical training. Participants rotate between classroom-based learning and real-world experience in a clinic, working alongside Certified Medical Assistants.
- Learning is conducted primarily through computer-based, self-guided learning in the classroom along with weekly skills practice. Beginning halfway through the curriculum, there will be increased time in the clinical setting and less frequent skills training.
- Program hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with MultiCare recognized holidays off.
- Candidates should be prepared to commit approximately 50 hours, including 40 hours of classroom and clinical participation (paid), along with an estimated 10 hours of independent study and homework (unpaid).
- If offered a position, the candidate will sign a two-year agreement to remain employed with MultiCare in a Medical Assistant role.
- Medical Assistant- Registration: This will be started during the program. MultiCare will cover the cost and will be obtained via the Training Program and in collaboration with MultiCare after your start date.
- Filed during the first week of the training program. Signed by a healthcare practitioner endorsing him or her to perform specific tasks authorized in RCW 18.360.050(4). Valid as long as the MA-Resident is continuously employed by the same health care practitioner, clinic or group practice.
- The Medical Assistant-Certification application will be filed approximately week 11 of the program, which will be approved by the Department of Health after completion of the states required externship hours and passing the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification exam through National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
- Black Scrubs: Will be wearing 5 days a week. Employees are required to wear back scrubs five days a week during scheduled shifts.
- Footwear should be fully encasing the foot, including heels and toes and have a reasonably "rigid" material. They must be clean and in good repair.
- Notebook/Notecards/pens, etc. are optional if you prefer to take notes and color code things, etc.
- Stethoscope - Will be used in the training program, in clinic, and after graduation (many people like Littman). A basic stethoscope will do. It can cost around $55.00 for the basic one. You can get any brand/style you prefer.
- A waterproof watch with a second hand is required. (No smartwatches - they do not work well as the screen does not remain lit up for the duration of time needed).
-Filed after approximately 4-6 weeks of schooling is completed.
-Signed by a healthcare practitioner endorsing him or her to perform specific tasks authorized in RCW 18.360.050(4).
-Valid as long as the MA-Resident is continuously employed by the same health care practitioner, clinic or group practice.The MA-Resident will shadow staff until the MA-Registration application is submitted.Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a recognized Medical Assistant training program that is in partnership with MultiCare
- Preferred one (1) year experience with direct patient care in clinical or hospital setting
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CPR Certification obtained within 2-4 weeks of hire
