- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
- 3-5 years' experience in a specialty batch or continuous process chemical manufacturing plant preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products and AutoCAD (2D)
- Ability to successfully interface with customers, associates, and the community.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow complex requests, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Regular and reliable attendance. Required to be on-site.
The Chemical Process Engineer is responsible for supporting safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations by overseeing process documentation, equipment performance, and scale-up activities. This role plays a key part in troubleshooting, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration with Production, Quality Control, and Maintenance teams. The Process Engineer also serves as the technical lead for HAZOPs, change controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review, approve, and maintain batch card documentation and ensure updates to formulas and procedures are completed prior to subsequent production.
- Collaborate with Quality Control to verify that in-process specifications are current and appropriate.
- Provide hands-on process monitoring and visual inspection of equipment during daily operations.
- Troubleshoot process deviations and support incident investigations with appropriate technical solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend equipment modifications; oversee related documentation, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Lead the scale-up process for new products, including documentation preparation and supervision of initial production batches.
- Review and authorize change requests, ensuring all related documentation and procedures are updated accordingly.
- Act as the Technical Lead for Product and Equipment HAZOPs, Corrective Action Teams (CAT), and other process safety assessments.
- Develop, edit, and approve SOPs as needed.
- Create and maintain Near-Infrared (NIR) calibration models for plant operations.
