- The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients and families in routine nursing situations within the LPN scope of practice.
- Under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed provider, the LPN assists in patient care, treatment, and comfort.
- This role is an integral part of the healthcare team, ensuring quality care in alignment with Emory Healthcare's patient and family-centered care standards.
- Key Responsibilities: Patient Care & Clinical Duties 1. Provide patient care based on an individualized plan delegated by the Registered Nurse/Physician. 2. Monitor and document patient conditions, including vital signs, wound care, drains, and lab values. 3. Assist with medical procedures, treatments, and medication administration as per scope of practice. 4. Collect and document patient data using specialized equipment as needed (e.g., glucometer, pulse oximeter). 5. Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment following safety and infection control protocols.
- Communication & Collaboration 1. Establish and maintain communication with the healthcare team, patients, and families. 2. Inform the supervising Registered Nurse/Physician about patient activities, observations, and changes in condition. 3. Provide patient and family education related to health conditions, treatment plans, and home care.
- Documentation & Compliance 1. Ensure accurate and confidential maintenance of patient medical records. 2. Adhere to universal precautions and patient safety standards in all interactions. 3. Follow Emory Healthcare's policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Quality Improvement & Professional Development 1. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to best practices in patient care. 2. Conduct or assist with in-service training and continuous learning opportunities. 3. May serve on sectional, departmental, or organizational committees as needed. Required
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
- Previous experience preferred but not required.
- A valid, unencumbered license as a Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
- Strong patient care, communication, and documentation skills.
- BLS
- Previous nursing experience preferred but not required.
