Summary: This position maintains responsibility and accountability for the quality of patient care rendered and is the administrative representative for both internal and external contacts during the designated shift. Remains available for all departments as a resource person, to aid in problem solving, to evaluate and decide on course of action for any crisis that may arise, to prioritize and coordinate activity and actively participate in staff development. Responsibilities:(50%)* Assesses acuity as basis for maintaining adequate staffing levels for designated shift and for on-coming shift. Works in collaboration with patient placement to assign appropriate patient placements on designated shift (admissions and transfers).(30%)* Monitors medical wide activity via reports, rounds, patient acuity, number and type of admissions and other forms of communication.(20%)* Problem solves, evaluates and decides on course of action and alerts additional resources as needed. Plans, develops, implements and evaluates educational programs for orientation, staff development, and continued growth of all employees within the department. Counsels staff as needed.
