San Mateo, CA (hybrid) - will require coming into office 2x a week*PlayStation is seeking an experienced trademark and copyright attorney to work with some of the most exciting consumer brands. As Senior Corporate Counsel you will work with a variety of business and legal teams to support the trademark and copyright programs across the full scope of PlayStation products and services. The person taking this position will join a dynamic team of intellectual property professionals responsible for trademark, copyright, domain name, and enforcement activities for the company.Responsibilities:
- Advising business teams on trademark clearance, selection, and filing strategies.
- Working with in-house paralegals and outside counsel, overseeing prosecution of trademark applications and maintenance of registrations.
- Managing trademark oppositions and related disputes and advising business teams as needed.
- Drafting, negotiating, and advising on trademark and copyright agreements, including licenses, assignments, co-existence agreements, and settlements.
- Supporting copyright protection practices and domain name registration initiatives.
- Advising on trademark, copyright, and domain name aspects of transactions and managing post-closing integration.
- Educating other members of Legal and the company on IP considerations by providing trainings and contributing to the development and publication and dissemination of resources.
- At least 12 years of experience with trademark and copyright issues, with at least 2 years in a law firm.
- JD or LLM degree from top law school; CA bar membership preferred. At a minimum, the candidate must be qualified for and quickly acquire a Registered In-House Counsel status in California and the willingness to maintain that status during employment.
- Experience providing practical advice on a wide variety of legal issues in a fast-paced environment.
- A track record of drafting and negotiating agreements with an emphasis on trademarks and copyrights.
- Intellectual property litigation experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A dedication to client service and attention to detail.
- Strong presentation skills and an ability educate others about intellectual property in engaging and impactful ways.
- A familiarity with protecting consumer brands in the technology space.
- A passion for branding.
