RecruiterMelissa MelendezJob DescriptionWe are seeking a seasoned professional to serve as a Principal International Trade Import/Export Compliance Analyst, providing expert guidance and support to internal customers on international trade compliance matters. As a trusted business partner, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Program Office, Operations, Engineering, Contracts, Business Development, and senior leadership to ensure trade compliance across the business. BAE Systems in Fort Walton Beach, FL, is a major center for the company's work in defense, aviation, and space programs. This location houses the Range Instrumentation Products and Sustainment business unit, which has over 40 years of experience designing and manufacturing instrumentation radar systems, electro-optical systems, and other related equipment. They also provide various services, including systems engineering, software engineering, logistics, and information technology.This is a full-time position with a 75% in-office presence in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Applicants must either reside in this location, be willing to relocate, or travel for this role.Responsibilities:
  • Prepares, submits, and/or manages import/export authorizations (i.e. Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA), Department of State/Commerce Licenses, exemptions/exceptions, etc.) required to achieve business objectives utilizing the OCR/EASE Export Management System. This will include collaborating with internal customers (i.e. program personnel, business development, engineering) to gather detailed information to support the authorization. Meeting program objectives and schedules by processing applications in a timely manner and managing the authorization thru its lifespan is critical.
  • If approved by BAE Systems, will function as a designated “Empowered Official” per the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), to provide required certifications to the U.S. State Department Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC).
  • Understands and applies U.S. import/export regulations (International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. Customs) and company import/export policies. Assists company personnel on import/export-related questions. Maintains and increases knowledge by attending relevant seminars and training, and through self-study.
  • Supports internal customers across all functions with the review/approval of international travel requests, international visitor requests, international purchase orders, document reviews.
  • Reviews, approves, and audits international shipments, including a review of the Electronic Export Information (EEI) filed via the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) portal, as applicable. This position may collaborate with customs brokers, international freight forwarders, and legal counsel on matters related to logistics and trade compliance.
  • Provides import/export training to employees and programs, as required.
  • Analyzes and reviews information related to proposals, contracts, purchase orders, presentations and product development and participates in technical programmatic discussion/meetings.
  • Reports potential export/import violations to the Sector Global Trade Director. Supports the investigation of potential violations and assists in the preparation of voluntary disclosures to the U.S. Government, prepares corrective action plans and remedial activities.
  • Supports accurate product and technology jurisdiction/classification, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification, Schedule B classification, country of origin, valuation, and other customs issues when needed.
  • Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

  • To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must be a U.S. person and a current resident of the Fort Walton Beach (FWB), FL area, willing to relocate to FWB, or travel 75% to FWB
  • 6+ years with Bachelor's degree, 4+ years with Master's Degree, or 8-10 years of relevant trade compliance experience.
  • This role will require extensive experience interpreting and applying the U.S. export/import laws and regulations to include the ITAR, EAR, U.S. Customs, Foreign Trade Regulations, and other applicable federal government regulations. Eligible for U.S. Secret clearance.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal day-to-day supervision, detail oriented, demonstrated good writing skills, and excellent organization/communication skills.
  • Position includes travel to meetings, conferences, and training as applicable.
