Come join our team!Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive.Position Summary:Based in Wichita, KS, the Heat Treater C will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the General Manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following.
  • With observation, sets up, operates, and monitors heat treat equipment with moderate independence.
  • Conducts basic operator equipment preventative maintenance tasks as required.
  • Follows written procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.
  • Prepares work for processing. Loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
  • Brings any irregularity to the lead person or management.
  • Promotes safety and good housekeeping practices.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety, punctuality, and professionalism.
  • Accept constructive feedback and adhere to workplace policies and procedures.

  • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; therefore, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident cardholders.
  • Experience Necessary: Six months to 1 year of experience in heat treating.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must have basic knowledge of heat treating, testing, metallurgy, temperatures, etc.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs, bend, lift, climb, stoop, and stand.
  • Work Environment: Regularly exposed to heat, dust, noise, humidity, fumes, etc.
  • May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification.
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of, but are not limited to, the following.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
