- Welcome patients, family, and visitors in an appropriate manner. Escort any patients to proper location in the hospital.
- Admit new patients as they come in for their appointments. Ensure computer documentation of patient information is up to date and accurate at the time of service.
- Answer telephone calls, redirect calls to appropriate persons, and/or take appropriate and accurate messages if indicated. Collect voicemails and handle appropriately.
- Gather interfacility department mail.
- Handle departmental faxing – timely receipt, appropriate distribution and sending.
- Complete prior authorization for all required insurances. Keep record of all prior authorizations received with authorization codes placed within the account. Additional phone calls or faxes may be required to achieve prior authorizations. Track prior authorizations and request additional visits or extensions as required. Collaborate with providers to ensure documentation necessary for authorization is received in a timely manner.
- Maintain all patient schedules for Rehabilitation Services and staff.
- Assist in development and tracking of quality assessment performance improvement (QAPI) information. Send to the Department Director monthly.
- Monitor, handle, and distribute information from work queues in a timely fashion to assure expedited handling of any issues affecting patient care, billing, and other needed aspects of business.
- Keep accurate statistics of chart audits. Send a quarterly record for the Department Director.
- Scan all necessary components into patient's electronic medical record.
- Keep accurate daily statistics and prepare a monthly record for the Department Director and the Controller in the Business Office.
- Track all sports medicine events in the Community Log as well as appropriate file. Email monthly to Department Director.
- Order supplies as requested or needed. Assistance with custodial duties may occasionally be required in patient areas. Send in and follow up on all work orders for any additional maintenance.
- Assist in physical handling and transportation of patients as needed.
- Assist in treatment provision in special situations as needed/requested by providers and within legal scope.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Prefer an Associate Degree in Business.
