These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.Team Description:The Microfabrication Team, a division of the Brain Interfaces Hardware Department, designs, manufactures, and verifies the thin-film microelectrode array that records and relays neural signals to the body of the implant. The team operates at an in-house cleanroom facility in Fremont, with operations expanding to Austin in the near future.Job Description and Responsibilities:As a Process Engineer and Shift Supervisor (second shift) at Neuralink, you will be responsible for supervising manufacturing for the second shift (6 pm to 2 am, Monday through Friday) and for contributing to process engineering work to improve yield, quality, and throughput of thin-film arrays. You will be responsible for everything your shift does, or fails to do. As such, you will be instrumental in ramping production and accelerating Neuralink's progress.Note: Second shift schedule will be 6 pm to 2 am, Monday through Friday.Additional responsibilities will include:
  • Performing hands-on work to accelerate progress and keep manufacturing running throughout the shift
  • Decision-making and guidance to technicians regarding all equipment and processes of manufacturing throughout shift
  • Operating equipment such as ASML, photoresist spin coater, reactive ion etcher, e-beam evaporator, sputter physical vapor deposition system, plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition, wet processing stations, and more
  • Creating and maintaining process and equipment documentation, including daily process logs and equipment logs
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining equipment and equipment calibration and performance
  • Strong coordination with first shift to understand manufacturing priorities prior to shift, and strong ability to document progress and challenges for a smooth start to the following shift
  • Actively collecting data and visually detecting defects on production lines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ensuring product quality and conformance to design requirements
  • Keeping a clean, organized, and thoroughly-maintained cleanroom or workspace
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Sufficient experience with microfabrication process engineering to enable fast decision-making and guidance to shift technicians
  • Resourceful, flexible, and adaptable; no task is too big or too small
  • Strong self-discipline and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a medical device regulatory environment
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and constantly-changing environment
  • Ability to work 6 pm to 2 am Monday through Friday, ending on Saturday morning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Solid understanding of basic physics and engineering fundamentals
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, distill, and disseminate relevant technical information
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing an operational team with the expectation to deliver a physical product or component
  • 2+ years hands-on microfabrication process engineering experience
Additional Requirements and Competencies:
  • Ability to travel to and work at other manufacturing locations such as Austin, Texas
  • Ability to lift and transfer up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to spend long periods standing and walking within a cleanroom environment
  • Ability to work 6 pm to 2 am, Monday through Friday
Expected Compensation:The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the following range. Your actual base pay will be determined by your job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We also believe in aligning our employees' success with the company's long-term growth.
