- Establishes priorities in organizing daily activities, effectively manages patient flow and anticipates special equipment, solutions and miscellaneous supplies needed for various procedures.
- Triages patients to the level of care necessary to provide quality patient care with the best possible results based on triage protocols and consultation with Providers.
- Assist/Initiate with BLS measures.
- Instructs patient in collection of samples and tests.
- Consistently demonstrates correct handling of procedure specimens per Provider orders, including appropriate identification, labeling, dating and disposition of the specimen.
- Communicates test results and instructions to patients per practice protocol.
- Acts as a content expert and clinical resource by providing staff and patient education.
- Educates patient and care givers about diagnostic procedures, medications, chronic disease management and treatment instructions (e. diabetes, AIDS, immunizations).
- Carries out orders as approved by the supervising Providers.
- Assists Provider by preparing the patients and equipment for examinations and procedures. Assists the Provider during procedures and treatments.
- Assesses surgical and acute wounds to assist the Provider with treatment.
- Understands the proper application of splints, slings, cast boots, braces, etc. Measures for knee braces and other appliances.
- Ensures proper inventorying and ordering of medical supplies and maintenance of emergency equipment.
- Assists with medication management for patients. Accurately and promptly requests prescription authorizations and orders refills on medications as authorized by Provider and/or practice policy.
- Understands surgical inpatient procedures and care.
- Performs the following non-face to face services:
- Referral management
- Communication of test results
- Development and updating of Care Plans
- Medication management
- Assistance with connections and communication with community resources
- Patient education and communication
- Assists with documentation in documentation platforms as required in addition to appropriate documentation within the EMR.
- Acts as a resource for patient care and ensure that patients are scheduled with the Provider that is best suited to meet their healthcare needs.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, and employees as appropriate.
- Understands and has knowledge of diagnoses, billing, and procedures.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
- Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures as well as labor agreements.
- Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
- Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
- Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Work may include site set-up and taking down testing site locations, infection prevention practices, patient education, and testing procedures for all ages.
- Assist with casting and splinting as ordered by physician and healthcare provider.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs in coordination with physicians and healthcare providers. This includes assessing patient’s condition, triaging patient phone calls and walk-in patients, counseling patients, providing patient education, taking patient histories and administering medications as prescribed by physician and healthcare providers.
- Initiates and/or implements appropriate patient interventions as necessary to respond to routine, urgent and emergent patient issues; assesses and evaluates results to facilitate positive outcomes.
- Determines/recommends, in consultation with on-site healthcare providers, timely and appropriate changes to patient care plan.
- Perform nasal pharyngeal/other specified swabs on adults and children.
- Assist with vaccination for influenza and other vaccines
- Ability to work with potentially Covid-19 positive patients.
- Float between testing sites and Urgent Care to meet staffing demands
- Current (Healthcare Provider [HCP] level) CPR certification.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Experience working in a clinic setting providing support to providers in a variety of medical specialties preferred.

- Extremely heavy physical effort, lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
- Intermittent exertion when performing treatments.
- Good reading eyesight; full visual acuity, depth perception, and color perception.
- Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with Providers, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
