Responsible for all phases of the clinical laboratory testing process in a hospital wide team environment.Job Duties and Responsibilities
- 1. All pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical functions
3. Participate in Inventory Management
4. Order, Process, Prepare specimens for on-site testing or for sending to reference laboratory
5. Operate and Maintain Instruments and verify performance through appropriate use of standards, controls and calibrators
6. Evaluate Results for reasonableness and accuracy based on patient condition, age, gender etc.
7. Recognize unusual or unlikely results or potential interfering factors and investigate prior to reporting
8. Recognize and report critical results after evaluation of test results and specimen integrity
9. Solve basic equipment and testing problems
10. Participate in departmental and hospital Quality Assurance activities
11. Process and test proficiency testing specimens as assigned
12. Complete mandatory annual training and competency testing and participate in continuing education opportunities as available and appropriate.
13. Special projects and other related duties as assigned.

- 1 Year working experience Preferred, but will consider New Grads
- Associates Degree
1. Current ASCP or equivalent
2. CPR or BLS certification- (Within 3 months of hire).
3. Washington State Phlebotomy License is optional.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
1. Knowledge of Quality Control Westgard Rules and Documentation
2. Able to recognize unlikely results and troubleshoot
3. English language
4. Basic computer skills
5. Able to perform Body Fluid Cell Counts and Hematology Manual Differentials
6. Able to perform Urine Microscopies
7. Basic knowledge of Blood Banking
8. Able to perform gram stains
9. Able to communicate effectively with providers, nurses and patients
10. Able to work independently
11. Shift at times will be variable, the ability to be flexible is required.Physical Requirements
