The Lead Scale Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the scale house, ensuring accurate and efficient weighing of materials and maintaining proper documentation. This role includes supervising multiple Scale Operations Specialists assigned to designated Hub location. This role is based in a fast-paced, open-office team environment where collaboration, communication and adaptability are key to success.Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Create a weekly scale coverage schedule for Scale Operations Specialists assigned to designated Hub location.
- Review and approve weekly timecards for Scale Operations Specialists assigned to designated Hub location.
- Oversee the weighing of inbound and outbound trucks at multiple aggregate locations, ensuring accurate weight recordings.
- Supervise and train Scale Operations Specialists assigned to Hub location, while providing guidance and support.
- Build a strong culture of customer service amongst Scale Operations Specialists team at designated Hub location.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all transactions, including weight tickets and invoices.
- Ensure effective communication with drivers, vendors and internal teams to facilitate smooth operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues with the scale system or discrepancies in weight data.
- Implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy of scale operations.
- Ability to provide scale coverage as needed.
- Ability to demonstrate efficient and professional customer service skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership team.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends or overtime when necessary.
- Must be strong at multi-tasking, able to use CB radio, scanner and other electronic devices.
- Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
- Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
- Flexibility to work in a team environment and/or independently as required.
- Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees.
- Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
- Ability to learn billing processes in order to support these responsibilities.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Ability to learn multiple software programs within a reasonable timeframe and train other employees as needed.

Associate's degree preferred, high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Two or more years of experience in scale house operations, logistics/transportation, customer service or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Prior supervisory experience a plus. Proficient with computer systems, including scale software and Microsoft Windows programs such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.Language Skills
Ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.Reasoning Ability
