Job DescriptionJoin a dynamic healthcare team dedicated to supporting patients in their recovery journey. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily medical office tasks and providing quality care to patients within the Transitional Care Unit.Responsibilities
- Ensure that charts for outside physicians are prepared with appropriate forms and documentation.
- Assist staff with scheduling appointments, requesting medical information, test results, photocopying, filing, and other administrative tasks.
- Assist with obtaining necessary authorizations or referrals.
- Maintain patient charts and ensure information is filed or scanned accurately.
- Function as a collaborative team member, demonstrating commitment to group goals and teamwork.
- Take vitals on all patients, including height, weight, blood pressure, and temperature.
- Complete patient history, medication documentation, and other administrative orders as instructed by the provider.
- Enter pertinent patient data into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system as requested by the provider.
- Accurately document point of care results to ensure charges are sent by the close of business.
- Work within scope and with providers to answer patient phone questions and complete refill encounters with appropriate documentation.
- Answer phones, screen calls, and communicate messages accurately and timely.
- Restock and prepare exam rooms for the next day according to par levels.
- Notify staff responsible for ordering supplies when needed.
- Cover front desk duties as well as assist with triage and back-office duties.
- Proficiency in medical assisting and familiarity with the EPIC EMR system.
- Current BLS certification (or obtained prior to providing direct patient care).
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year of back-office experience or successful completion of a formal medical assistant training program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
- Experience in primary care settings is beneficial.
