REPORTS TO: Head Start Coordinator, Site Administrator LOCATION: Various Sites (BBES & GKES)

NATURE OF WORK: The Head Start Aide will work under the direction of school and program administration to support the provision of developmentally learning opportunities in the Head Start Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Must utilize good oral and written communciation skills Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team Demonstrate the ability to work with children with developmental delays/disabilities Demonstrate the ability to use current technology resources Demonstrate organizational and time mangagement skills

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Aide will work under the direction of the classroom teacher. As part of the duties, the Aide will:

Assist with classroom/toy sanitation protocols Assist in guiding students in working and playing with others in the classroom and on the playground. Provide escort and assistance to students as necessary. Attend and assist in the supervision of students on field trips and other school related activities. Prepare, under the direction of the teacher, appropriate learning activities, stations, materials. Reinforce learning activities with appropriate audio visual aids and other materials. Participate in the setup and clean up of the meal prep Participate in the family style dining meals Assist in toileting needs of students Assist teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas. Assist in activities planned for and with parents. Attend, as necessary, workshops and in-service training sessions. Work on days when students are in school (no students on early dismissal days) or on designated professional development days

QUALIFICATIONS: Aides assigned to Head Start shall:

Be able to complete and pass a safety and security screening Be able to complete and pass a TB and Health Screening May or may not have a student currently enrolled in the Head Start program Be CPR certified or become CPR certified Be flexible
